Babymoon Swoon

Something you may not know about me, is that I am a lover of all things theme related and trendy, so of course I had to talk my wife into a babymoon. But if I’m honest it didn’t take much convincing once I explained what it was. For those of you wondering…

ˈbābēˌmo͞on/

noun

informal

  1. a relaxing or romantic vacation taken by parents-to-be before their baby is born.
  2. a period of time following the birth of a baby during which the new parents can focus on establishing a bond with their child.

Now that we are up to speed. We took a mini trip to Kissimmee, Florida for our romantic rendezvous. It actually doubled as our babymoon and a visit to see my family. My aunt was getting married nearby and my baby bump and I were in the wedding! Two for one, aye! Once we decided on our location I jumped right into planning.

Planning a Babymoon

Location, location, location…

Where you go as a preggo really depends on your symptoms, health and comfortability. I was healthy fortunately and got the green flag to go from my doctor. They only advised that I take bug spray to combat the low level of Zika still in the area. I chose a short flight for the following reasons:

  1. Less trips to the cramped and yucky plane bathroom.
  2. Foreign food; didn’t want to chance getting sick.
  3. Lack of patience for a longer flight.

That said choose a location wisely!

Maternity Wear

Another of my favorite things is packing for a trip! I know some of you may think that’s odd, but I get a kick out of planning my outfits and trying to pack as little as possible into my carry-on is my fun challenge. Since our babymoon was in February and in sunny Florida I wanted to wear some brights and some florals which are in this year. Now, let’s be clear I am a firm believer of not spending an arm and a leg for maternity clothes (If I do purchase, a pricy maternity garment it is with the intent to wear after delivery.)

Activities & Things…

I wanted it to be really loving and romantic so I searched one of my favorite sites The Dating Divas  for some date night in ideas that I could pack and set up in our suite. I found this fabulous Spa Date package for FREE99 (can we say colored cardstock and instant print). It came with a spa menu of services including the prices, “spa bucks” to pay for the services, a do not disturb door hang and a spa request form. Perfect!

Once I printed and cut everything I thought, hmmm we will need to earn these spa bucks before we go, in order to pay for our services. Sooo, that night (after booking the flights) I gave my wife $20 spa bucks and wrote on the back “Thank you for taking out the trash and massaging my back.” Then I shared that we should show our appreciation for one another in spa bucks until our trip. We both had $200 of appreciation money to give. Let me tell you it’s the little things! We both came home looking/hoping we had earned some spa bucks. This rain of appreciation (see what I did there, LOL) also helped us to be kinder and more patient with one another. Who doesn’t want that before a long trip?!?!

Soon it was time to head to the airport. The night before our flight we counted up our earnings and completed a spa request form for services. It was definitely a great idea to do it before. This allowed us to think of a reasonable order to render each other’s services in advance. Once we touched down and checked into our 2 bedroom suite I immediately began setting up the second room as the spa! To say it was needed, romantic, and just what the doctor ordered is a grand understatement!

Spa Essentials…

All I added were some rose petals from Dollar Tree, candles, lavender massage oil, lavender body wash and cream from Bath & Body Works. Done!

On our trip we also planned a formal dinner night, dinner and snack at the drive in theater, and a chill day in Old Kissimmee exploring the live music, carousel and shopping. The list of things you can do are endless. My advice is to check the site of the location you plan to visit and choose from there, that was our strategy and it worked out well. Happy travels!!!
